Full Payment Submissions for RTI

Full Payment Submissions for RTI
With RTI now in full swing, you should be getting to grips with the different types of submissions required:

  • Employer Alignment Submission (EAS)
  • Full Payment Submission (FPS)
  • Employment Payment Summary (EPS)
  • Earlier Year Update (EYU) *NINO Verification Request (NVR)
The one I wish to discuss here is the FPS. This is the main submission type and should be sent to HMRC every time you pay an employee, whether they are paid weekly or monthly, it doesn’t matter, the submission has to be made each and every time. The FPS needs to include details of all employees who are being paid in that period. The details should include: tax code, gross pay, tax deducted, NIC, sick pay, student loans, parenting pay and year-to-date figures. It should also highlight employees who are still working for your company, but are paid in a different period. The key benefit of FPS submissions is that you will no longer have to send P45s or P46s to HMRC. With the variety of submissions available and the fear of penalties for incorrect and late submissions, it is easy to get bogged down with RTI. If you would like any advice or help, please get in touch with me.
