It appears, in the latest ONS statistics on the UK labour market, that the uncertainty of Brexit has tightened the jobs market. The latest results published in December show:
- UK employment increases to 32.48million, 79,000 more than for May to July 2018
- The unemployment rate was estimated at 4.1%, virtually unchanged from the previous period
- Number of vacancies sits at 848,000 for September to November 2018 - 10,000 more than the estimate for the previous period
- The number of people aged from 16 to 64 years not working and not seeking or available to work (economically inactive) was 8.66million, 95,000 fewer than the previous period
