Spotlight On: Our Newest Partner - Mehul Thaker!
We are so excited to announce the promotion of the incredibly motivated and talented, Mehul Thaker. Mehul’s promotion brings our total number of partners to ten, and demonstrates our commitment to internal progression and investment in our team.

Whilst we could list you all of the things on Mehul’s CV that prove how exceptional he is, we thought it would be better to instead ask him some difficult questions that will give you a little more insight into who Mehul really is, and what he brings to the table.

When did you join Raffingers?

I joined Raffingers in January 2017, seems like a lifetime ago though!

What or who inspires you to get out of bed every morning?

I have always believed that if you enjoy what you do, you’ll look forward to getting up everyday and working on your passion. This is true for me in what I do at Raffingers, as it gives me the opportunity to be better than I was yesterday and make a real difference to our clients.

What made you decide to get into accounting?

I always wanted to get a qualification post University and as I liked numbers this career choice seemed to be the perfect fit!

What’s your ‘Why’?

To be the best version of myself and enjoy the journey whilst doing so.

Where’s the most interesting place you have travelled to?

The Himalayas.

Who would you invite to a dinner party and why?

  1. Barack Obama – To know the real story behind a two term president
  2. Pablo Escobar – To understand how he became so popular with his own people when his actions were morally wrong to those outside
  3. Matthew McConaughey – Because he’s one cool dude
  4. Christian Bale – Because he’s the Batman
What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

No matter what you do in life, always give it your best.

Where do you see yourself In 10 years time?

At Raffingers, building a better place to work for our team and a better practice to serve our clients.

If you could share one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

Make time to take a step back and enjoy where you are in life.

What do you think makes a great working culture?

There are a lot of aspects to a great working culture, my top 3 are:

  1. Committed staff
  2. Understanding managers
  3. Constantly being challenged with a variety of work
How would you describe your leadership style?

I like to lead from the front and show the same commitment as the team because we’re all working together. This means I like to understand individual personalities and working styles and adapt my approach and style to fit all.  I would like to think it then means I’m approachable and dependable!

How do you maintain a positive work/life balance?

This can be quite difficult at the best of times, but I always plan my week on the Sunday before to know what I have going on in and out of work and then stick to my timetable. I would love to say it works every week, but its definitely improving!

What’s next as the newest Partner at Raffingers?

I’ll be building my client portfolio and continuing to learn from the other Partners on how to be effective in my role and the skills needed to keep the wheels turning of a successful practice.
